Clair Obscur Dominates at the 2025's Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded on Thursday, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the biggest winner. This standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the esteemed Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with accolades for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's success, the skilled actors also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Outstanding Audio and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. It is important to note, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only four categories—Critics Choice, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—judged by reviewers.
